Near Posada Yum Kin Hotel in Tulum, is Batey, Mojito and Guarapo bar, a sweet place to get together with friends for a really good, cold drink and its rated number 20 out of 127 attractions in Tulum. The family that owns this bar, is like watching an Italian movie. Watching them all work together in this cozy, breezy bar is quite a sight.
Mojitos are a rum and mint based drink. Batey’s mojitos are especially good, because they use fresh sugar cane that is split right there on the spot. Though they are heavy on the rum, you can balance it out with a ginger, classic or Mayan spice flavor. They also offer fruity flavors such as mango and watermelon. Alongside your drink order, comes small homemade bruschetta to accompany your choice of beverage. Prices range from 80-100 pesos.
In front of the bar there are a few tables, a small kitchen, and there is a stage in the backyard, with the backyard being lined with trees that light up on the warm breezy evenings. From the late afternoons until the early morning hours, one can usually find live music ranging from jazz to reggae, to local bands and open mic nights, or good selections from their computer playing during the day.
Batey’s has a fresh sugarcane juicer right in the front of the establishment (in the Volkswagen Beetle) to accompany your fresh mint and rum, that is a great spot to take photos with your family and friends.
After a long day at the beach, or after your shower and dinner this is the perfect place to enjoy a refreshment and unwind from the day. Batey mojito bar is located off of Tulum avenue on Calle Centaurno North next to Kibok coffee. Be sure to say hello to the house Rooster who is always there.
